Based on the novel by Gabriel García Márquez, Mike Newell's romantic drama stars Javier Bardem as Florentino, a man obsessively in love with Fermina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), the childhood sweetheart who rejected him. But although she's married another, the patiently devoted Florentino remains on the sidelines of Fermina's life for the next 50 years, carving out a turbulent relationship of tortured longing and passion.
