Newly crowned Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete on The Today Show


Newly crowned Miss Universe, Jimena Navarrete has begun her TV media blitz, stopping this morning on The Today Show.

Tomorrow she heads to Miami where she will do various TV shows, radio, and print media appearance, starting early morning on Univision's Despierta America.

Back to back Latina's win Miss Universe

A proud moment last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas as the 2009 Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela crowned the new Miss Universe from Mexico, Jimena Navarrete.

The stunning Jimena Navarrete of Guadalajara, 22, will visit the Today show on Wednesday, followed by other media appearances and visit her new home for the next year, which in the past its been at a Trump-owned building. Prizes for winning includes, an undisclosed salary, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, a custom diamond tiara and jewelry designed by Diamond Nexus Labs; a shoe wardrobe from Nina Footwear; hair care products and tools from Farouk Systems; eveningwear wardrobe by Sherri Hill; a collection of swimwear from Dar Be Dar by Tala Raassi; personal services including membership to Gravity Fitness and hair services from John Barrett Salon; modeling portfolio by leading fashion photographer Fadil Berisha; dermatology and skincare services provided by Dr. Cheryl Thellman-Karcher; professional health and nutrition consultation by Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD and dental services by Dr. Jan Linhart, D.D.S. and an array of other opportunities.

Her winning question was on online security for kids and her response was "I do believe that Internet is and indispensable, necessary tool for the present time. We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family."

The star-studded panel of judges included Vegas Magician Criss Angel; actor, William Baldwin; world-renowned latina percussionist and drummer, Sheila E; anchor of "NBC Live," Tamron Hall; Olympic Gold Medalist and World Figure Skating Champion, Evan Lysacek; Oscar nominated actor, Chazz Palminteri; Singer and actress, Chynna Phillips; actress Jane Seymour; and international supermodel, Niki Taylor.

Dayanara Torres Loves Milk


Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, helps launch the new "Drink Well. Live Well." initiative for the Hispanic got milk? campaign unveiling her Milk Mustache ad.

"I feel privileged to be able to reach out to all the Hispanic moms and talk about the role milk can play in the wellbeing of their families. I understand what is most important to us moms and none is more critical than the wellbeing of our kids," Dayanara explains.


Other Latino's have participated in past got Milk? promotions including Lili Estefan, Sofia Vergara, Barbara Mori, Sara Ramirez, Alicia Villarreal and Charytin.

Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza wins the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant


Latina beauties took over the Miss Universe contest held this year in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. The show hosted by talk show king Jerry Springer and Spice girl Mel B, announce Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza, 22 years-old. as this years winner of Miss Universe. Dayana Mendoza career ambition is to become an Interior Designer. She also enjoys photography and is interested in advertising.

2nd runner up Colombia - Taliana Vargas
3rd runner up Dominican Republic - Marianne Cruz González
4th runner up Russia - Vera Krasova
5th runner up Mexico - Elisa Najera
Finally Miss El Salvador Rebeca Moreno won Miss Congeniality.
This year's judges included Donald Trump Jr., Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization; fashion designer and entrepreneur Roberto Cavalli; Nadine Velazquez, international cover girl and star of NBC’s “My Name Is Earl”; Jennifer Hawkins, television presenter and Miss Universe 2004; Louis Licari, celebrity colorist and “Today Show” ambush makeover expert Joe Cinque, President of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences; Nguyen Cong Khe, Editor in Chief of Thanh Nien newspaper and international shoe designer Taryn Rose.
Estimated worldwide viewing audience was more than 1 billion viewers.
This year's Miss Universe wins the following:
