Shakira and her foundation will donate a total of US$40 million to Hurricane Dean victims in Nicaragua and Peru, where a massive earthquake hit in August. According to EFE news service, Shakira's foundation with the help of other artist and businesses, will partake in the giving, for projects to include reconstruction, sanitary improvements, and improving drinking water in these areas.
Shakira announced her plans during the annual meeting in New York of the Clinton Global Initiative, spearheaded by former President Bill Clinton.
