TONIGHT on ABC TV: The 2008 ALMA Awards

“The 2008 ALMA Awards,” celebrating the outstanding artistic achievements of Latinos in motion pictures, television and music, airs tonight, Friday, September 12 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

The all star Latino showcase kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month and is hosted by Eva Longoria Parker, who is also Excutive Producer of the show. Tonight's show includes tributes to Ugly Betty's America Ferrera, Linda Ronstadt, Shakira and fashion designer Narciso Rodríguez.

Also presenting awards include celebrity presenter's: Sofia Vergara, Daddy Yankee, Placido Domingo, Edward James Olmos, Sergio Mendes. will.I.am, Jessica Alba, Roselyn Sanchez, Cheech Marin, George Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Daisy Fuentes.

See performances by Pee Wee, Jon Secada, Brian McKnight, and Lucero.

The ALMA Awards is a unique program, bringing together celebrities and leaders who influence American society. The Democratic convention is done and this Monday the Republican week begins and we want to know what's important...Let's get the celebrity endorsements! Oprah, DiCaprio, and Ben Affleck for Obama and Sly Stallone, Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger are for military veteran John McCain. Even Latino stars are getting in the action Don Omar for Obama and El Cangri for McCain, Jessica Alba for Obama and Erik Estrada for McCain. What is really the purpose for celebrities to get involved in politics? Does this hurt a celebrities' fan base? Whatever the case, we see celebrity endorsements as a way to feel knowledgeable of current issues and of course to get free publicity. While many celebrities are enjoying summers in St. Tropez, flying around in private planes, and hanging out in ridiculous huge trailers on movie sets, we'll see more celebrity endorsements for politicians and green initiatives.

Gloria Estefan loves to shop at The Gap, meanwhile Jose Luis Rodriguez "El Puma" loves to buy gum at convenience stores. Don Francisco frequents prestigious Bal Harbour shops in Miami with wife Temmy, while Tejano star Dinora and Paulina Rubio love Victoria Secrets. Anyone like WalMart???

BABY ALERT: Jessica Alba has a baby girl!!!!

Jessica Alba gave birth to a baby girl Saturday night. Alba got married on May 19 at the Beverly Hills courthouse with Cash Warren. The baby's name is Honor Marie Warren. No weight or other details were given.
Alba's latest movie, 'The Love Guru' with Mike Myers, will be released on June 20.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! We wonder what magazine is shelling out the $$$ for the baby pics. Most probably People Magazine.

Jessica Alba Broadway bound???

If all negotiations continue, Jessica Alba might debut in Broadway as "Karen" in the musical Speed the Plow. Speed the Plow is a satire comedy of the movie industry, a musical that has counted with Felicity Huffman and Kevin Spacey in the past productions.

Is she or isn't she...Make up your mind Alba

A few month's ago Jessica Alba said publicly that she wasn't Latina, that not even her grandparents are, that they were born in the U.S. In anycase, now she tells the media at the Padres Contra El Cancer gala, which Eva Longoria is spokeswoman, "Eva is amazing...I would support her in anything she does...She's a great friend, is a proud Latina, like me, she's just amazing." Come on Jessica, make up your mind.

Looks like Jessica Alba and ex-long time boyfriend Cash Warren are back together. The couple was seen shopping in Malibu and affectionate to each other when they drove off in their Prius. Alba is currently filming The Love Guru in Canada. Maybe that had something to do with the reunion.
