Glamorous State Dinner for Mexican President at the White House

The White House had its second State dinner last night, this time for Mexican President Felipe Calderon. President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama hosted prominent Latino celebrities and personalities including the world's richest man, Mexican mogul Carlos Slim, Desperate Housewive's Eva Longoria and comedian George Lopez.

The MENU included:

Celebrity chef Rick Bayless and White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford used herbs, radishes and lettuce from the White House kitchen garden. Interesting note that guests ate from the china donated to the White House by former president Bill Clinton, and use the 1955 porcelain from former president Dwight Eisenhower.

Decoration of tables in the East Room were decorated in natural shades of orange and green with the centerpiece featuring a bouquet of marzipan and chocolate flowers.

Entertainment for the evening on the South Lawn was provided by Beyonce along with Mexican rhythmic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Other invited guest included: Whoopi Goldberg, New York Jets players Mark Sanchez and D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Olympic speed skater Shani Davis, Goya Foods president Robert Unanue, Univision anchors Maria Elena Durazo and Jorge Ramos.

Many politician's attended and too many to mention. Florida Republican Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Lincoln Diaz-Balart didn’t get an invite, but their television anchor brother José Diaz-Balart with the Telemundo network did.

It's raining Latino stars as they take over the Cannes Film Festival

This year's Cannes Film Festival in the South of France has scheduled many Latino stars showcasing their respective movies including Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria and Benecio del Toro.


Other Latino's expected include Javier Bardem, Salma Hayek, Gael Garcia Bernal and even long lost Fernando Allende with a movie title "MARIA".

Alejandro Sanz performs Looking for Paradise at the MA World Conference

Grammy award winning singer Alejandro Sanz performed his latest hit Looking For Paradise to more than 20,000 antendees of the MA World Conference at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

Looking For Paradise, a song co-produced by Alicia Keys, was this year's theme song for the convention and rightfully so. The song was written aboard JR and Loren Ridinger's 150-foot, Utopia III yacht.

Latina's Shine at the Shrine for the SAG awards

Screen Actor's Guild Award is one of the most important award ceremonies every year, where actors vote on their peers. The event held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Latina superstars America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Rosario Dawson and Penelope Cruz. You think we will see any of these actresses doing a novela on Univision? We don't think so, at least no presently. In anycase, a glamourous night, and still 2 big shows to go, The Oscar's , and The Grammy's to complete award season.

“The 2008 ALMA Awards,” celebrating the outstanding artistic achievements of Latinos in motion pictures, television and music, airs tonight, Friday, September 12 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

The all star Latino showcase kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month and is hosted by Eva Longoria Parker, who is also Excutive Producer of the show. Tonight's show includes tributes to Ugly Betty's America Ferrera, Linda Ronstadt, Shakira and fashion designer Narciso Rodríguez.

Also presenting awards include celebrity presenter's: Sofia Vergara, Daddy Yankee, Placido Domingo, Edward James Olmos, Sergio Mendes. will.I.am, Jessica Alba, Roselyn Sanchez, Cheech Marin, George Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Daisy Fuentes.

See performances by Pee Wee, Jon Secada, Brian McKnight, and Lucero.

The ALMA Awards is a unique program, bringing together celebrities and leaders who influence American society. "It's invasive and it sucks at times. I don't alter my plans or my life around it. I'm not going to not go on a boat trip because paparazzi may or may not be watching. I'm not going to not wear something because paparazzi will turn it into I'm pregnant."

Although Eva Longoria says she has been eating alot of pasta during the writer's strike, she also tells InStyle about another dated obsession, UGGS. "Tony loves them and I still have the first pair I bought on Ebay with my first big check", Eva recalls.

New year, new movie, new name. Eva Longoria now wants all her movie posters, interviews, and recognized as Eva Longoria Parker. The sweet Latina actress from Corpus Christi was in Miami promoting her new movie OVER HER DEAD BODY at a press junket the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami. During one of her interviews with Telemundo, Eva had a small blunder when asked if she would answer questions in Spanish. Eva's publicist told reporters that she would rather answer in english. Eva responded, "estoy embarasada" trying to say "I'm Embarassed". The reporter then told Eva "you're pregnant"..."No, No, No, I'm not pregnant" Eva claryfied. Gracias Eva for saying it straight.

We could live by these rules. Eva is one tough Latina...and busy. She's been on ABC's Desperate Housewives for the last 3 years, is a spokesperson for L'Oreal, and in February, she stars in the film Over Her Dead Body with Paul Rudd and Jason Biggs. Longoria stays busy with her charity contributions to Padres Contra El Cancer, The Entertainment Industry Foundation, awareness of ovarian cancer, and Eva's Heroes in San Antonio. Her production company also co-produces movies and the ALMA awards. Did we say she was also a beauty queen back in Corpus Christi, Texas?

Eva Longoria to open Mexican restaurant in Hollywood(Latino)

We just love her. Eva Longoria and star chef Todd English have partnered up to open a Mexican restaurant in Hollywood called BESO. Although you wont see Eva in the kitchen cooking, she has alot of involvement in the new venture by picking the uniforms for staff and all the recipe's are hers. Viva Mexico!!!!
